In a nutshell, Super Mario Odyssey: World 1-1 is a fan-made platformer that recreates the most recognizable first course of World 1-1 in Super Mario Bros. with a unique twist. The challenge is to take a familiar yet punishing course and make the most of its opportunities using the mechanics and style of Super Mario Odyssey. Running and jumping, throwing Cappy, even capturing and flying with a Waddlewing: this is a very modern approach to the classic. Testing your skills, patience, and creativity alone after hours on end would be a worthy challenge.
Arrow keys control Mario, X for jumps, Z to throw Cappy, and C to capture objects. The game entails some easy combinations of moves as well as more advanced ones like Triple Jumps, Ground Pounds, Dives, Rolls, and Sideflips; the better you get at these moves, the more efficient you will be in clearing the level.
This project was created by a devoted fan of the Mario series, spurred on by the once-popular community "only-up" challenges that rallied the community together. The perspective here is of someone who wanted to make a small but very difficult game to engage players and test their skills.
