What is Minesweeper?
Minesweeper: the one classic puzzle game that is simple in nature and yet the channels of engaging thought through logic and strategy with a pinch of nerve into the art of impasse on patience. The object is to clear the minefield by revealing all the cells that do not contain mines and avoiding the hidden bombs. The game presents sequential recursive thinking and problem-solving with pressure.
How to Play
There is a grid set up for the game. Some cells have mines inside them. Clicking is involved in revealing one cell. If it is a cell with mines nearby, that cell would show numbers indicating the mines in the surrounding eight cells. In the case of clicking on the mine itself, the game is over! If you thought there was a mine in some cell, move your mouse pointer over the cell and hit the spacebar to flag or unflag it.
Tips and Tricks
- Try to click near the edges of the grid as those cells generally provide more information with fewer risks.
- Use the numbers to deduce where the mines must be. If all the mines have been flagged around the number, you know the location of all mines.
- Always think recursively; that is, whenever you reveal a cell, think of how it changes the picture of several other cells around it.
- Sometimes it gets unnecessarily tough, so take a break to prevent yourself from becoming frustrated.
