What is Pickle Fridge?

Pickle Fridge is an oddball, demanding little action game where you play the lonely pickle against the cold. Simple yet impossible: shoot ice cubes, dodge gas, and get your XP from your enemies. It's one-of-a-kind action-strategy in a sort of quirky and interesting wrapper. Before you actually wake up to Play, check the controls and notes so you get a feel of what lies ahead.

How to Play

Show Shield: Hold E to keep the protective shield active against the harmful gas.
Shoot: Left-click to shoot your weapon at ice cubes and other enemies.
Skip Cutscene: Spacebar skips the opening cutscene and jumps straight into gameplay.
Movement: You CANNOT move; the only control you have is shooting and putting up the shield.

Tips & Tricks

Upgrades should be prioritized: Go for firerate upgrades first: faster damage output, then shields, and lastly health to get your health meter expanded.
Gas Management: Use your shield strategically to block gas waves, which could cause extreme damage if left unchecked.
XP Collection: Ice cubes remain your greatest source of XP. Therefore, destroy as many as possible for your upgrades.
Level Strategy: Every five levels will unlock a new upgrade, so plan your moves week ahead of time around when you expect to become strong.

History

Created for passion, it took about 9 weeks of development with about 17 hours invested by an indie developer. The creator had taken inspiration from existing games and added their own distinctive seasoning to it, designing everything—from the art to the sounds to the mechanics. Special thanks to pixilart.com for the art tools; to Scratch as the game engine; to beepbox.co for the sound and music; and also to BenBonk on YouTube for giving us the first glimpse of inspiration that led to the remake.
